FONG Ka Yu
Katy FONG is a poet, a painter, and a pigeon stalker.
Her daily inspiration comes from the outdoors, such as the morning breeze, shadows of tree leaves, and city lights on sea waves. FONG senses beauty and joy from ordinary sceneries and everyday objects.
While esteeming traditional aesthetics and delicate craftsmanship, FONG is delighted to embrace 'accidents' during the making, and she would turn them into 'surprises' as part of the artistic treatment – we can see that in her ink splashing, glass blowing and street filming works. FONG is not tired of trying out new art forms and exploring unusual materials; she believes different visual presentations are interrelated and possibly complementary in the end. Through diverse channels of art-making and story-telling, she lets her mind flow freely in the ocean of arts and humanity.
Humour, dreaminess, and spontaneity can be observed in her practices.
