HU Jia Chun

HU Jia Chun, Lucy focuses on presenting visual narratives through illustration and graphic art.

Living in a world full of violence and disruption, Lucy considers artmaking as a way that enables us to share kindness, love and care. Her subject matter explores daily experience and feelings that exist in this world. She is particularly interested in nostalgia, poetic and melancholy, and to transform these elements into stories that can be read from both perspectives, joy and sorrow. She explores soft, gentle, and intuitive marks in her creation, and she aims to develop a visual language that translates her beliefs in the power of innocence and pureness.

She hopes her works will draw audiences' attention and appreciation to the unremarkable happenings in life, and to look for shimmering light when the night comes.

I created an island that is happy forever from my childhood drawings.
