KWOK Yik Lam Emily
KWOK Yik Lam, Emily is a Hong Kong-based artist who focuses on illustration and graphic design. Born in a Christian family, her works are mainly related to religion and interpersonal relationships. She tries to study how to strike a balance between communities and individuals, and between rules and humanity in her artmaking.
Most of Emily’s works are narratives with symbols and metaphors. She believes everyone is unique. Every story should be valued with its sincerity. What motivates her to make art is to let readers get a little comfort after reading the stories.
The one who counted waves
Everything keeps changing, like the same wave never rises again. Inspired by my childhood memory of counting waves on the beach, I used a video to tell a story about a person obsessed with waves. Instead of obsessing with the things that no longer exist, it is better to leave and move on.
